What is the best type of mattress to buy?

I get asked all the time what is the best type of mattress to buy when we are hosting a sale at Pottstown Mattress. Probably 30-40% of the customers ask me that question when I meet them at our warehouse mattress store in Pottstown.

The short answer is: The best type of mattress to buy is the one that is the most comfortable to you at the price you can afford.

The longer answer starts here….

1. Look for a mattress that provides you with the type of support you are looking for in a new mattress. Do you want a lot of support or do you need less support from the springs? Do you have a bad back? Do you sleep on your side? Find a new mattress that fits what you want.

2. Find a mattress that fits your sleep style. Many side sleepers prefer a softer top on their mattress because of skin pressure points. A softer mattress will conform to your body more. Back sleepers tend to like a firmer topped mattress because they lay flatter.

3. Think of your mattress as an investment. You spend 1/3 of your life in bed. 8 hours a day = 1/3 of 24 hours. At Pottstown Mattress we have found that the average comfortable life of a good quality mattress is about 7-8 years. So if you spend $600 on a good mattress and it lasts 7 years that is about $85/yr.

4. Buy a bed with a good warranty. The warranty is backed by the factory and serviced by the company you buy the bed from. For example almost every mattress we sell comes with a 5 or 10 year warranty. This typically covers split seams, bad springs etc… Hopefully you never need it but if you do you would call the store and they would file a warranty claim for you.

Back to the short answer…buy the bed that is most comfortable to you that fits your budget. There is no need to pay $1000’s of dollars at a retail store when you can pay 1/2 of that at our mattress store in Pottstown.
