The Importance of Replacing Your Worn-Out Mattress

A good night’s sleep is essential for your health and wellbeing, and the quality of your mattress plays a significant role in determining the quality of your sleep.

Over time, however, even the best mattresses can become worn out and lose their ability to provide proper support.

Here are three reasons why it’s important to replace your old, worn-out mattress:

  1. Improved Sleep Quality

As a mattress ages, it can begin to sag and lose its ability to provide proper support. This can result in aches and pains, tossing and turning, and an overall decrease in the quality of your sleep.

By replacing your old mattress with a new, supportive one, you can improve your sleep quality, wake up feeling rested and refreshed, and enjoy all the benefits that come with a good night’s sleep.

  1. Better Health

Your mattress can have a significant impact on your overall health. A worn-out mattress can lead to a variety of health problems, including back pain, neck pain, and stiffness. Additionally, a mattress that is more than 7-10 years old can harbor dust mites, bacteria, and allergens that can aggravate allergies and asthma.

By replacing your old mattress with a new, high-quality one, you can improve your health and reduce your risk of developing these health problems.

  1. Increased Longevity

While it may seem counterintuitive, replacing your old mattress can actually save you money in the long run. A worn-out mattress can cause you to wake up feeling tired and achy, which can lead to decreased productivity, missed work, and an overall decrease in your quality of life.

By investing in a new, supportive mattress, you can enjoy increased longevity, better sleep quality, and all the benefits that come with a good night’s sleep.

Replacing your old, worn-out mattress is essential for your health, wellbeing, and overall quality of life. By investing in a new, supportive mattress, you can improve your sleep quality, reduce your risk of developing health problems, and enjoy all the benefits that come with a good night’s sleep. If your mattress is more than 7-10 years old or you are experiencing discomfort while sleeping, it may be time to start shopping for a new mattress.

Why is my mattress so uncomfortable?

Uncomfortable MattressThere are 5 main reasons that your mattress is uncomfortable.

1. Your mattress is old. The comfort life of a good mattress is typically 7-8 years. Many will keep their mattress for 15+ years. Yes your mattress will physically last that long but it won’t be comfortable because it will literally wear out over time. Don’t pass down your old bed to a child either, that is the worst thing you can do! Is your mattress uncomfortable? Wouldn’t it be uncomfortable to them too?

2. Your mattress is not supported correctly. If you have a queen or king mattress on a box spring do you have a center support leg/cross member under it? If you have a split box spring you MUST have a center support. About half the time when I ask customers if they have a center support they say no. This will cause your mattress to sag in the middle. If you properly support your mattress from the first day it will last longer and be comfortable longer. If you do not support it from the first day it will wear out faster and become uncomfortable faster.

3. Your mattress was not good quality to begin with. Good mattresses are not cheap. But there are cheap mattresses that you can buy. If you bought a cheaply built mattress for a low price a few years ago it will become uncomfortable much faster than a good quality mattress for a couple hundred dollars more. Think of your mattress as an investment in good sleep. Spend a little more and get a better mattress.

4. Your springs are not supporting your body correctly. The springs in your mattress will wear out over time. They move every time you get into our out of bed. They are metal. Metal gets fatigued. The springs lose their tension. They will sag and move around over time. This is a normal part of a mattress wearing out over time. There is little you can do to prevent this except start with a better quality set of springs inside your mattress. Quick note, High coil count does not mean higher quality. There is A LOT that goes into the coils in your bed. Don’t rely just on a high coil count.

5. The foam in your mattress is compressed down. The foam in your mattress is the most comfortable it will ever be the first night you sleep on it. EVERY NIGHT AFTER THAT IT BECOMES MORE AND MORE COMPRESSED. Over time you WILL develop body impressions in your mattress. After a few years it will start to be less comfortable. At about 7-8 years it is time to buy a new one because the foam will be completely compressed down.

As you can see there is very little you can do to prevent any of these issues. The fact is your mattress WILL WEAR OUT over time and become uncomfortable. Think of a mattress like a set of tires on your car, you need to replace them every so often or something bad will happen. Same thing with a mattress. A good night sleep is priceless! Invest in a good quality mattress and sleep better.

The Truth behind “Free Mattress Delivery”

MATTRESS DELIVERY-2Almost every mattress store in Pottstown offers “Free Mattress Delivery” “Free Frame” & “Free Removal”. The world of advertising is a great thing, you can get customers to believe almost anything if you tell them over and over and over that it is “Free”.

The reality is there is nothing Free in this world, EVERYTHING costs something. A better way to phrase the delivery, frame & removal would be “Included” but that just doesn’t have the same ring does it?

Frame Included. Delivery Included. Removal Included….those just don’t sound the same as FREE!!!

When mattress stores in Pottstown create their advertising they want you to pay attention to it. The word FREE is a very powerful word and some folks will actually believe that they are getting something for Free.

Here is a test for you. Go into any mattress store in Pottstown and negotiate your best price for the new mattress to be delivered. Then once you get the best price ask them if you pick it up if you can get a better price….

The answer should be YES! Because they have the cost of the Free mattress delivery built into the price. However most mattress stores in Pottstown won’t say Yes because they make money when you pick it up.

That is the truth behind Free Mattress Delivery advertisements. The mattress stores in Pottstown know that a certain number of customers will pick up their new mattress. Those customers pay for “Free Delivery” too.

Our business model differs. We don’t offer any type of delivery, free or paid. It is pickup only. We will help you tie your new mattress on top of your vehicle and we have rope for you too if you want it.

You will ABSOLUTELY get a lower price for many reasons at Pottstown Mattress because we don’t build any “Free” items into the price. The price you pay is for what you are buying and that is it. You don’t pay extra for someone else’s “Free” frame. You can call your garbage man and pay them $25 or so to remove your old bed from the curb.

So why pay a retail mattress store in Pottstown for all of the “FREE” stuff? If you want the best price on brand name mattresses in Pottstown then I hope you will visit our warehouse mattress store in Pottstown to compare. What is the best type of mattress to buy?

I get asked all the time what is the best type of mattress to buy when we are hosting a sale at Pottstown Mattress. Probably 30-40% of the customers ask me that question when I meet them at our warehouse mattress store in Pottstown.

The short answer is: The best type of mattress to buy is the one that is the most comfortable to you at the price you can afford.

The longer answer starts here….

1. Look for a mattress that provides you with the type of support you are looking for in a new mattress. Do you want a lot of support or do you need less support from the springs? Do you have a bad back? Do you sleep on your side? Find a new mattress that fits what you want.

2. Find a mattress that fits your sleep style. Many side sleepers prefer a softer top on their mattress because of skin pressure points. A softer mattress will conform to your body more. Back sleepers tend to like a firmer topped mattress because they lay flatter.

3. Think of your mattress as an investment. You spend 1/3 of your life in bed. 8 hours a day = 1/3 of 24 hours. At Pottstown Mattress we have found that the average comfortable life of a good quality mattress is about 7-8 years. So if you spend $600 on a good mattress and it lasts 7 years that is about $85/yr.

4. Buy a bed with a good warranty. The warranty is backed by the factory and serviced by the company you buy the bed from. For example almost every mattress we sell comes with a 5 or 10 year warranty. This typically covers split seams, bad springs etc… Hopefully you never need it but if you do you would call the store and they would file a warranty claim for you.

Back to the short answer…buy the bed that is most comfortable to you that fits your budget. There is no need to pay $1000’s of dollars at a retail store when you can pay 1/2 of that at our mattress store in Pottstown.

We sell Brand New name brand mattresses with full warranties for 50% of what you would pay in a retail mattress store in Pottstown.

Twin size sets are $125 to $275
Full size sets are $140 to $425
Queen size sets are $150 to $650
King size sets are $300 to $850

3 tips for buying a new mattress in Pottstown

Are you trying to find a new mattress in Pottstown? Most people tend to wait a really long time to buy a new mattress because they only see their mattress once a day. We wake up sore in the morning and say “I am going to buy a new mattress” but an hour later with all of the rushing around of our daily lives we forget….until that night again.

Buying a mattress isn’t fun. No one gets really excited about it. It takes time out of your busy day and let’s face it, buying a good mattress isn’t cheap.

Here are 3 tips to help you buy a new mattress in Pottstown.

Pottstown Mattress buying tip #1:

Always make sure you have enough time when shopping. If you go into one of the retail mattress stores in Pottstown you should plan to spend 2-3 hours learning all about mattress coil counts, foam density, warranties etc… The reason it takes so long to buy a mattress in a mattress store in Pottstown is because they charge so much $$ and they have 100’s of models that they use to confuse you.

They have to justify selling you a new mattress for thousands of dollars so they want to “educate” you. At Pottstown Mattress we take a different approach. We have 10 models in stock. We will ask you a few questions. We will then ask you to lay down on 3 models to gauge what you are really looking for.

We like to call it the Goldilocks Mattress Test. Too hard, too soft, just right….

Since our prices are 1/2 of what you would pay in a retail store we don’t have to sell you on fancy coil count numbers or 3lb density foam and all of our mattresses come with the same warranties as the other mattress stores in Pottstown.

You should plan to spend 30 minutes shopping at our mattress warehouse in Pottstown versus several hours at the other retail mattress stores in Pottstown.

Pottstown Mattress buying tip #2:

A good mattress isn’t cheap. You can buy cheap mattresses in Pottstown or you can buy good mattresses in Pottstown but you can’t buy good cheap mattresses in Pottstown.

Here is an example. A good queen mattress & boxspring at the mattress stores in Pottstown will cost you $600-$2500. Right about now you are saying to yourself “Wow, I didn’t realize a good mattress in Pottstown would cost that much?”

A cheap mattress in Pottstown will cost you $600 or more at a retail store. The reason for this? Advertising, high rent, commission sales people, “Free delivery”, “Free bed frame”, “Free removal of old bedding” etc…

Do you really think any of that stuff is free? There is no such thing as a free lunch anymore. The mattress stores in Pottstown just build those fees into the price.

The worst part? If you pickup or don’t have them remove the old bed you are still paying for that stuff! That’s right. It’s all built into the price and they don’t remove it if you don’t use the service so you are paying for someone else’s delivery or removal.

At our Pottstown Mattress Warehouse we don’t have all the frills built in, no gimmicks, no free delivery, no free frames, no free removal etc… just really good beds at lower prices.

Our queen size sets run $150 to $650. We are typically 50-60% below retail because we sell from a warehouse and we don’t offer all of the “extras”. If you need delivery we can’t help you, sorry. If you want a “free” bed fram we aren’t the place to shop for a new mattress in Pottstown.

If you want a really good mattress in Pottstown at the lowest possible price then we are the mattress store in Pottstown for you. It’s really simple, come to us for the best prices on mattresses in Pottstown.

Pottstown Mattress buying tip #3:

Don’t be fooled by the “sale”. Every mattress store in Pottstown runs a mattress sale almost every day of every week. They inflate their prices and then offer you a discount if you buy today.

Keep in mind a sale price on a mattress in a mattress store in Pottstown will still be 2 x more than what we charge every day. We are typically 1/2 of what you would pay in a retail store. For example, a queen size super pillowtop set with boxspring might be $1300-$1700 in a retail store, our top of the line super pillowtop queen size set with boxspring is just $650! 10 year warranty, name brand, side support, extra layer of memory foam on top etc…all the bangs and whistles for 50% less than other mattress stores in Pottstown.

These are just a few of the tips we can share with you about buying a mattress in Pottstown. Call or text today 610-772-8716 or click the button below to set an appointment.

Pottstown Mattress University – Springs

Learn the basics about mattress springs. From premium innersprings to pocket springs and microcoils, you’ll get an understanding for the most common support systems used in traditional mattresses today.

When it comes to finding the perfect mattress, one of the most crucial factors to consider is the type of support it offers. While foam mattresses have gained popularity in recent years, the traditional spring mattress remains a popular choice due to the unparalleled support it provides.

Here are three reasons why the springs inside a mattress are so important:

  1. Superior Support

The primary function of springs inside a mattress is to provide support to your body while you sleep. This support is essential to keep your spine in proper alignment, preventing aches and pains that can result from an unsupported sleeping position.

Springs are designed to compress and rebound when pressure is applied, which helps distribute your weight evenly across the mattress surface, reducing pressure points and ensuring you wake up feeling rested and refreshed.

  1. Durability

Spring mattresses are known for their durability, making them an excellent long-term investment. Unlike foam mattresses, which can lose their shape over time and require regular replacement, spring mattresses maintain their structure and support for many years.

High-quality springs are made from durable materials and are designed to withstand the wear and tear of regular use, ensuring that your mattress will last for many restful nights to come.

  1. Customizable Comfort

One of the most significant advantages of spring mattresses is their ability to provide customizable comfort. Different spring systems, such as pocket springs or continuous coil systems, can offer varying levels of support and comfort.

This allows you to choose a mattress that is tailored to your specific sleeping needs, whether you prefer a firm or soft sleeping surface.

In conclusion, the springs inside a mattress play a critical role in providing optimal support for a good night’s sleep. They offer superior support, durability, and customizable comfort, making them an excellent choice for those looking to invest in a high-quality mattress.

If you’re in the market for a new mattress, be sure to consider the type of springs it contains to ensure you get the best possible support for your needs.

Learn about the different types of quilting patterns used in mattress production.

When it comes to choosing the perfect mattress, there are many factors to consider, including the type of support and the quality of the materials used. However, one often-overlooked aspect of mattress construction is the quilting pattern used on the surface of the mattress. Here are three reasons why mattress quilting patterns are so important:

  1. Enhanced Comfort

The quilting pattern on a mattress can have a significant impact on the level of comfort it provides. A good quilting pattern will help to evenly distribute weight across the surface of the mattress, reducing pressure points and ensuring a comfortable sleeping experience. Quilting can also add an extra layer of cushioning to the mattress, providing an additional level of comfort that can make a big difference in the quality of your sleep.

  1. Improved Durability

The quilting pattern on a mattress can also have a significant impact on its durability. A well-constructed quilting pattern can help to keep the mattress layers in place, preventing shifting and bunching that can lead to premature wear and tear. Additionally, a good quilting pattern can help to protect the mattress from spills and stains, keeping it clean and extending its lifespan.

  1. Stylish Design

Finally, the quilting pattern on a mattress can add a touch of style and sophistication to your bedroom. With a wide range of quilting patterns available, from simple square patterns to more complex diamond or wave designs, you can choose a mattress that reflects your personal style and complements your existing decor.

The quilting pattern on a mattress is an essential factor to consider when choosing the perfect mattress for your needs. A well-designed quilting pattern can enhance comfort, improve durability, and add a touch of style to your bedroom. Be sure to choose a mattress with a high-quality quilting pattern to ensure that you get the best possible sleeping experience.
